Role in Human Health |
Sodium |
Sodium enjoys an important role in the circulatory system. The body needs sodium to regulate blood pressure, as well as the volume of the blood itself. It also guards against dangerous blood clotting in the blood vessels. Sodium is essential to human health, organic sodium, not salt. Sodium is highly alkaline and contributes to the alkalinity of the lymph, blood, and works with the bicarbonate system in the digestive tract. It keeps calcium and cholesterol liquid in the body. Increases osmosis, helps with excretion of carbon dioxide and counters acidity. |
There are many sources of Sodium. As in most cases it's best to use the most pure form; Sea Salt, Celtic Sea Salt, Salt water fish and other found in nature. Processed salt is NOT a good source of sodium. |
Sodium is a carefully balanced element within the human body. It's well known that excess sodium can cause a number of health issues, most commonly high blood pressure. While sodium deficiency in the longterm is rare, there are times in which deficiency can occur, particularly during illnesses that include bouts of vomiting and diarrhea. |
