Nitrogen
Nitrogen is being used to grow food more and more, bigger/cheap crops, most commonly in developing
nations. Although nitrogen is the most abundant of earth's atmospheric gases, it must be converted to
chemically usable forms like nitrate or ammonium. In the absence of humans, this happens during
lightning strikes or more commonly through microbes.
Excess nitrogen can be a health concern for
humans in many ways, including respiratory
ailments, heart disease and several cancers
Nitrogen (N) is an essential component of DNA, RNA, and proteins, the building blocks of life.
All organisms require nitrogen to live and grow. Although the majority of the air we breathe is
N2, most of the nitrogen in the atmosphere is unavailable for use by organisms.
